Karachi, 28 Dec 2016: Eye Specialist Pakistan Naval Hospital Shifa Commodore Sameer called on Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali in his Office and discussed matters of mutual and health related interest. Administrator informed him about DHA’s healthcare and medical treatment ventures being undertaken in DHA and DHA City Karachi.

TEA OUT OF COMMANDER 5 CORPS- DA CREEK CLUB

Karachi, 11 Dec 2016: Tea Out of Commander 5 Corps and President Executive Board DHA was held at Defence Authority Creek Club. Lt Gen Naveed Mukhtar Commander 5 Corps shook hand with DHA Officers and commended them for rendering excellent services for the Housing Authority. The meeting was a source of inspiration and encouragement for the officers and a great morale booster for them. Addressing the gathering Corps Commander appreciated DHA for maintaining highest standards of excellence in the field of housing and community development.

The Commander particularly appreciated the tremendous and commendable efforts of DHA in building a new city DCK which has lot of potential and has attracted renowned national educational and health institutions for establishing their campuses there which substantiates the efficacy, viability and quality of the upcoming project. He urged the officers and staff of DHA to continue working hard with same zeal, devotion and commitment to uphold DHA’s good name, reputation and credibility.

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali presented a memento to the Commander on behalf of DHA while Mrs Administrator presented a souvenir to Begum Corps Commander which will remind them of cherished memories of their association with DHA. DHA SERVICES CONDUCTS DENGUE ERADICATION CAMPAIGN IN DHA

Karachi, 6 Dec 2016: Dengue is the most rapidly spreading mosquito-borne viral disease caused by breeding habitats of the major mosquito vector, Aedes Aegypti. It has lately assumed epidemic proportions engulfing the entire country. DHA with a view to provide healthy and dynamic living environment to its residents has launched a hectic vector surveillance and exploration drive to identify the potential breeding points of mosquitoes and to eliminate/control the spread of the epidemic through an intensive fumigation campaign. The vector surveillance and fumigation drive was carried out by DHA Services teams in Defence areas.

The comprehensive campaign which kicked off last week included fumigation and spray drives intended against the stagnant standing water, storm water drains, garbage dumps and manholes etc. The fumigation campaign will effectively prevent the breeding of mosquitoes, flies and insects, which are the potential carriers of different diseases and viruses.

Spray insecticides from vehicle mounted fogger thermal machines comprising dengue chemicals per-mathrin, delta methen, temephoy and larvae were sprayed at each nook and corner of various areas in DHA. The DHA fumigation campaign included effective fumigation of all DHA schools/colleges, clubs, various directorates, medical centre, central library, residential areas, parks and surrounding areas.

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali appreciated DHA Services for effectively conducting the fumigation campaign against the deadly viruses. He asked them to ensure that the chances of outbreak of dengue epidemic in the area is effectively obviated.

DHA PARKS – BRINGING NATURE AND BEAUTY TOGETHER

Karachi, 5 Dec 2016: Parks are important elements of a city which serve the purpose of revitalization of senses. DHA has paid special attention to the horticultural needs of housing society and has developed many beautiful parks in the area which serve as central walking, relaxing and rejuvenating places as well as breathing lungs of city providing fresh and healthy environment to its residents.

Zamzama Park in DHA Phase-V spread over an area of 26 acres of land is a popular park where people of all socio-economic segments and especially the residents of the nearby residential areas are seen walking, jogging and taking refreshing exercises.

The park has recently been renovated, refurbished and substantial improvements have been made in the public facility to rejuvenate the park in all its forms and manifestations. The visible improvements include revamped lighting arrangements including fixing of more track lights/lamp posts, renovation/repairs of washrooms, placement of litter bins, placement of additional wooden benches and renovation /improvement of cafeteria. Walk through gates have been repaired, lawn developed on barren spots and lot of horticulture work in form of adoring the park with flower and fauna and beautiful rockeries has been done to make Zamzama Park a most attractive and a must go park.

CHAIRMAN HEAVY INDUSTRIES TAXILA CALLS ADMINISTRATOR DHA

ADMINISTRATOR DHA VISITS DAR-UL-SUKUN

Karachi, 21 Nov 2016: Dar-ul-Sukun located at Kashmir Road looks after the abandoned and vulnerable children with disabilities with utmost care and affection. The organization envisions a society where all people with disability get preferential status in access to due healthcare, education, food, shelter and employment opportunity to live integrated and dignified life. Dar-ul-Sukun uphold the cherished values of its organization in all its planning and conduct implying respect and value for each other through utilization of all its resources efficiently in an optimum manner.

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali visited the Dar-ul-Sukun setup, mixed up with the special children and spent some time with them who were delighted to find him amongst them. The students on the occasion presented an impressive talent show showcasing their talent and potential. Administrator appreciated the children’s performance which he said was encouraging and reflected their high spirits and moral despite their disabilities. He said that he would never have seen such a lively life which the special children and inhabitants of Dar-ul-Sukun imbibed with a spirit of renewed confidence and optimism depicted had he not come here. Later GM Dar-ul-Sukun Mr Morris Khurshed and Incharge of the setup Sister Ruth Lewis conducted the Administrator through the facility where he saw the upkeep, facilities and humanitarian working of the organization.

Administrator termed the working of Dar-ul-Sukun as impressive and a shining example of service to the humanity. He commended the philanthropic role and missionary zeal of the management with which they were serving the noble cause of helping the humanity in distress. He eulogized the noble role of Dar-ul-Sukun in the word, ‘Services; Thy Humanity is the Divine Message’. He also gave a donation of Rs. 1 Million for the welfare and wellbeing of the children of the setup.

DELEGATION OF SHAUKAT KHANAM CANCER HOSPITAL VISITS – DHA HEAD OFFICE

Karachi, 18 Nov 2016: A delegation of Shaukat Khanam Memorial Trust (SKMT) Cancer Hospital led by its CEO Dr Faisal Sultan visited DHA Head Office and held a meeting with Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali to discuss the progress of construction and layout planning for establishment of Shaukat Khanam Cancer Hospital in DHA City Karachi (DCK). It may be recalled that a MoU between DHA and SKMT was signed early this year for establishment of Cancer Hospital in DCK. Earlier SKMT Delegation visited the dedicated project site for construction of Cancer Hospital in DHA City where they discussed the initial concept and details of site plan with Project Director DCK. The Delegation thanked DHA and DCK management for their support, co-operation and provision of relevant technical and planning information about the project site and said that SKMT Cancer Hospital coming up in DCK would be a nucleus for provision of contemporary and most advanced cancer treatment facilities in Pakistan.

Administrator DHA said that DHA was committed to provision of happy, healthy and dynamic living environment for its residents and would facilitate SKMT in all ways to establish a pivotal health facility to fight against the menace of deadly cancer disease. He said that Shaukat Khanam Cancer Hospital in its essence would be a forerunner to a reinvigorated hope and optimism for the ailing humanity.

The ground breaking ceremony of SKMT Cancer Hospital in DCK is expected to be held by the end of this year.

DHA PHASE-VIII STEERING COMMITTEE MEETING

Karachi, 17 Nov 2016: DHA Phase-VIII Steering Committee Meeting chaired by Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali was held at DHA Head Office to review and evaluate the efficacy and implementation strategy of different development projects/schemes to be implemented in DHA Phase-VIII. The Steering Committee discussed the professional, technical and contractual aspects of ICT network, electrification/street lights, E-tagging and sewerage system works being executed in the area and took pragmatic, knowledge based and forward looking decisions to speed up the development process.

The state-of-the-art ICT (Integrated Communication Technology) works for Phase-VIII encompassing fibre optics and high speed internet technology for integrating voice, data, digital and smart grid facilities on a single fibre optics cable were discussed/evaluated for finalizing the ICT Plan. The electrification works and installation of street lights based on LED solar energy for efficient, durable and modern lighting system of the area was also discussed incisively and various options were evaluated to finalize the design and nature of streets lights to be installed in Phase-VIII.

Administrator appreciated the efficacy of recently introduced E-tagging pilot project in Phase-VIII being implemented with the combination of sophisticated advanced surveillance system and computer technology. E-tagging will be introduced at all major entrance roads of Phase-VIII to monitor entry of vehicles for enhanced security in the area. The requirements, technical parameters and efficacy of new sewerage system as per the environmental considerations to be incorporated in the existing sewerage system were discussed thread bare and appropriate cum professionally knowledgeable decisions were taken to speed up the development process.

Administrator emphasized the need to undertake the development projects with vigour, professional zeal and knowledgeable approach to ensure that DHA Phase-VIII is developed as one of the best, modern and smart locality of the metropolis.

BRIG (R) ASIF GHAZALI EX ADMINISTRATOR CALLS ON ADMINISTRATOR DHA

Karachi, 14 Nov 2016: Ex Administrator DHA Brig Asif Ghazali (Retd) visited Defence Housing Authority Head Office and called on Administrator DHA in his Office today. They discussed matters of mutual interest. Brig (R) Ghazali showed keen interest in the ongoing development and community oriented projects/activities in DHA and appreciated the dynamism and professional enthusiasm of DHA’s dedicated team which imbued with a visionary zeal was implementing the ongoing projects with vigour and accomplishment.

Administrator thanked Brig Asif Ghazali (R) for his goodwill sentiments which he said were encouraging and presented a souvenir and a calligraphic painting to him in recognition of his memorable services and contributions for DHA.

DHA EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS ATHLETICS CHAMPIONSHIP 2016

Karachi, 11 Nov 2016: A closing ceremony was held at the conclusion of Defence Authority (DA) Inter Schools/Colleges Athletics Championship 2016 held at Rahat Stadium in DHA Ph-VI with great fanfare. Mr. Islahuddin Siddique, former captain and legendary star player of Pakistan Hockey team was the chief guest of the function.

A total of 67 athletes of eight DHA Schools / Colleges participated in different field and track events of the championship. The Principal of the school which organized the event, Ms. Rukhshanda Jabeen in her welcome address highlighted the importance of sports and athletics in students life and said that sports offer an opportunity for students to whet their physical, emotional and social skills.

The chief guest Mr Islahuddin appreciated the strength, speed and talent demonstrated by students during the championship. He added that sports inculcate confidence, discipline and team work in students which is so essential for success in every walk of life.

DA Neelum High School won the coveted championship trophy while DA Model High School Beach View was runners up. Abdullah Naeem of DA Model High School Phase-VII was declared the best athlete of the event. The chief guest awarded trophies and prizes among the winners of the championship.

At the end, Capt (PN) Sajid Mehmood, Additional Director Education DHA presented a souvenir to the chief guest.
