Karachi, 24 Feb 2017: Pakistan Flower Show 2017 opened on Thursday evening at DHA Seaview Public Park. The venue of the show is presenting an exquisite view of colour and beauty with exotic fragrance of multi coloured seasonal flowers adding to the ambience of the scene. Horticulture Society of Pakistan has organized the splendid floral show in collaboration with DHA and CBC.

Love of flowers is the essence of life. The flowers reflect natural beauty and leave indelible marks of aesthetic delight and creative charm on human mind. The charming beauty of colourful flowers is both refreshing and a blissful joy of life. It provides aesthetic delight to the people and has a soothing and calming effect on their nerves so essential for promotion of love, harmony and tolerance in society.

The Flower Show is manifestation of abounding greenery and colourful natural surroundings in DHA. A large number of people from all walks of life are visiting the venue of the Flower Show and appreciating the beautiful and innovatively arranged flowers arrangement at different stalls. There is a huge variety of flowers and plants displayed at the venue which is attracting the public interest. The people visiting the venue are basking in blissful joy and pleasure. There are many attractions for children, women and flower lovers at the show.

Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali said that DHA was committed to provide lively and aesthetically vibrant living environment to its residents. He said that DHA Horticulture Directorate is dedicatedly engaged in beatification of surrounding areas and thus creating lively, healthy and charming living environment in DHA. He said that a healthy and beautiful environment created through versatile horticulture interventions is not only attractive and enchanting but also serves the purpose of revitalization of senses so essential for a healthy living. He added that flower show is a lively activity that helps in promotion of positive and healthy trends in society.

The entire DHA these days including its parks, clubs, educational institutions, mosques and DHA Head Office present a dazzling and exhilarating scene with sprouting fragrance and colour in the environment.

Karachi, 23 Feb 2017: Legendary former World No.1 Squash champion Mr Jahangir Khan called on Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali in his Office. They discussed matters of mutual interest pertaining to promotion of sports in the country. Administrator emphasized the significance of sports and the need to hold international level tournaments in the country in present difficult times that will give a renewed hope and confidence to the nation as well as help in enhancing the stature and prestige of the country in the comity of nations. He said that DHA was committed to promotion of healthy and lively sports activities in society ensuring vibrant growth of youth.

Administrator eulogized the talent and achievements of Mr Jahangir Khan and said that he was an icon and an inspiration for the new generation of sportsmen. He asked Mr Jahangir to play his proactive role to bring international players to Pakistan for participation in different sports tournaments. Administrator reiterated that DHA would support and play its positive role in promotion of sports ventures in the country.

The meeting ended on a very positive and optimistic note.

Karachi, 21 Feb 2017: Defence Authority Marina Club located astride Gizri Creek in DHA Phase-VIII majestically overlooking the unfathomable Arabian Sea is a unique arena of the metropolis which offers exciting water sports and marina activities in the country. Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali visited Marina Club and saw the various facilities, boats and outfits of the club. He appreciated the efficacy, state of maintenance and operational viability of the club terming it as a jewel crown of DHA clubs.

Administrator chaired a meeting in which various development and uplift projects of Marina Club in pipeline were discussed in detail and prompt decisions were taken to complete them expeditiously in a prudent, cost effective and innovative manner. The projects discussed included Two Finger Jetty project, uplift of facade of club’s building including Coffee Shop, Reception, Barbeque Area, Outer Gate and upcoming Gymnasium to further enhance their usage and utility. Administrator emphasized the need to complete these projects in a holistic manner with a professional approach as per the contemporary trends in vogue. He said that the fecade of the building should be uplifted innovatively and tastefully revamped with an aesthetic vision to enhance the heavenly ambience and attractive outlook of the club.

The upgradation/modernization of Marina Club’s boats was also discussed including renovation of Para Sailing Boat encompassing its technical upgradation by replacement of its engines with a new modern and technically advanced engine for better efficiency, speed and maneuverability. The project for over hauling of Orkney Boat including installation of a new Fire Extinguishing Equipment was also reviewed and appropriate decision was made to enhance the safety and security of the boat.

Administrator appreciated the progressive and forward looking vision of Marina Club and its efforts to turn it as the best and most modern marina outfit of the country. He said that true marina spirit should be manifest in all club’s activities and the club should virtually be turned into boaters’ paradise.

Karachi, 21 Feb 2017: A Chinese Delegation M/s Shanghai Shenghua Cables Group visited DHA Head Office and held a meeting with Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali which was also attended by concerned DHA officials. M/s Shanghai Shanghua is a leading internationally renowned Chinese firm involved in research, development and manufacture of high quality cables with focus on developing and manufacturing electrical cables of all types used in electrical networks. The Chinese giant cable manufacturing firm has recently taken over the prestigious Karachi Electric (KE) Organization responsible for generation, distribution and supply of electric power in Karachi region.

Shenghai Electric Delegation introduced the company’s profile and various advanced technological products manufactured by it specifically highlighting the technical characteristics and technological specifications of 400 mm2 and 300 mm2 Alumunium Stranded Conductor Electrical Cable being laid by DHA’s technical team under supervision of KE for developing Electrification Infrastructure Network in newly developed sectors of DHA Phase-VIII.

DHA’s team discussed with Chinese Manufacturer the working of an efficient and dynamic cable supply arrangement encompassing minimum delivery time to ensure smooth and uninterrupted supply of electric cable for the ongoing electrification project. The possibility of establishing dedicated outlets of Chinese Company in Pakistan was also discussed in detail to work out a viable and pragmatic long term supply arrangement.

Administrator appreciated the technologically advanced cutting edge technology employed by Shanghai Electric in manufacturing electrical cables and hoped that sustained supply of high quality electric cable would be instrumental in expeditious completion of electrification network in DHA Phase-VIII as well as DHA City Karachi. He hoped that a mutually beneficial holistic relationship between the two organizations would grow in all forms and manifestations in future.

The Chinese Delegation comprised of Mr Zhu Pinxian, General Manager, Mr Jacky Vang, Sales Manager and Mr MU Dilong, Technology Engineer of the Company.

Karachi, Feb 15: Director General Logistics GHQ Maj Gen Fida Hussain Malik called on Administrator DHA in his Office and discussed matters of mutual interest. Administrator apprised the General Officer about the details of the ongoing development projects in DHA/DCK and the various community oriented initiatives taken and interventions made by DHA for the welfare and wellbeing of residents.

DG Logistic GHQ appreciated the visionary zeal and versatile development strategy of DHA which he said substantiated the credibility and reputation of DHA as a leading Housing Authority of the country which has set benchmark standards in the field of housing and community living.

Karachi, 14 Feb 2017: Managing Director Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KW&SB) Mr Misbahuddin Farid alongwith his technical team called on Administrator DHA Brig Shahid Hassan Ali in his office. They discussed the problems faced by residents due to acute shortage of water in DHA and the dire need to resolve them through dynamic and proactive measures. Administrator apprised MD KW&SB of the gravity of the problem due to less bulk supply of water by KW&SB to DHA much lesser than its authorized quota.

MD KW&SB assured the Administrator that his team was working dedicatedly to mitigate the water issue and will ensure enhanced bulk supply of water to DHA as well as provide an additional line for increasing the quantum of water supplied to DHA. He was hopeful that problem of scarcity of water in DHA will greatly be addressed once K-4 project is completed.

Administrator thanked MD KW&SB for his co-operation and hoped that Karachi Water Board would succeed in resolving the water issues of DHA at the earliest. The meeting ended on a positive note.
